Set the segments of an operation

The production process (6) is usually divided into separate segments:

  • Setup (1): In this segment of the production process the machine or the work center is set up.
  • Load (2): In this segment of the production process goods may already be produced in order to fine tune the machine or work center. There might be scrap in this segment.
  • Production (3): In this segment actual production takes place. This segment must be set for each operation. Production times can be set based on fixed times, productive times, cycle times, speed (units per time), ratio (time per unit). This way, there is no need for a manual conversion, which leads to higher accuracy and efficiency.
  • Unload (4): In this segment the last units are produced, possibly of poorer quality.
  • Reset (5): In this segment the machine could be cleaned, molds removed,...

If the operation is executed in an external work center, only 3 segments can be used: load (sending inputs), production (external) and unload (receiving outputs). It is only mandatory to set the production time, load and unload are optional.
