KIT activities

Kit is derived from kitting as in the grouping of items. A Kit operation is an operation to group the same or different items as a new item. For example: Composing a gift basket.

Two types of KIT orders can be created.

  • MTO = Make to Order (7): This KIT order is created upon request for an order.
  • MTS = Make To Stock (9): This KIT order is created to take into inventory.

For a Kit order, items (2) are picked (3) from the warehouse (1) and prepared as inputs (4) for the Kit operation (5). If the outputs (6) of the Kit operation (5) are put away (9) in the warehouse (1), this is called MTS or Make to Stock. If the outputs (6) of the Kit operation (5) are put away (7) to a marshaling location (8) for an order, this is called MTO or Make to Order.
