Set WIP input by weighing

  1. Choose Production Management > Resource Types in the Navigation Pane.
  2. Unfold in the Navigation Pane the tree structure of the Resource Types, and the tree structure under the desired resource type. Select the machine or work center.
  3. Choose the tab Machine or Work Center > vertical tab General > Machine Settings or Work Center Settings.
  4. Go to the sub tab WIP Input by Weighing.
  5. Where applicable, in the option group Properties, complete the required fields:
    FieldExplanation

    Weigh Container

This is the container type in which the component will be weighed. The maximum quantity which can be weighed in the container will be determined on the basis of the gross weight of the container type.

If the gross weight is not configured, the system will pick the complete quantity in one container.

If the quantity to pick is greater than the maximum possible quantity, the quantity will be split up in multiple containers.

    Do one of the following:

    • In the field Weigh Container, enter the name of the weigh container and press ENTER.
    • Click Select Container Type , select the container type and click Finish.
    Weigh Phase

The weigh phase is the template phase which contains the configuration to execute the weighing process. This phase defines if the weighing process is automatic or manual, what the warning limits are for the weighing process,...

    Do one of the following:

    • In the field Weigh Phase, enter the name of the weigh phase and press ENTER.
    • Click Select Phase , select the weigh phase and click Finish.
    Weigh Buffer Overflow

When weighing, the deviations between theoretic and actual values have always be taken into account. Via the weigh buffer overflow, it can be defined to what extent values may differ from the theoretic values.

If, for example, the theoretic stock is 6 kg and the scale indicates a weight of 8 kg, the weighing will be withheld if the weigh buffer overflow is equal to or above 2 kg. If the weigh buffer is smaller, the weighing will not be withheld.

Enter the value of the weigh buffer overflow, and select the desired Uom in the drop-down list.

  6. Via the option group Work Zones, determine from which work zones the SKU pick tasks have to be handled as weighing tasks. The pick tasks for these work zones to a WIP-IN location of a machine or work center will be handled as weighing tasks.

    Do one of the following:

    • Click Select Work Zone , select a work zone and click Finish.
    • Press ALT + W, select a work zone and click Finish.
Repeat to add more work zones.
To remove a work zone, select this work zone and click Remove Work Zone .
