Touch devices

Touch devices are used in the form of PC screens on operator workstations for assisting with the registration of the process. All the devices on which the Objective Operator Client application must run, must be configured as a touch device.

Touch devices are basically used to work with in the MES application, but this is not a requirement. The use of a mouse and keyboard is still possible. Touch devices in an MES environment can be linked to resources (machines and work centers) and departments.

It is also possible to run the Objective Configurator and Objective Supervisor applications on a touch device.

The list of Objective Operator Client devices having access to Objective are configured with the following properties:
  • Device Profile: this profile will determine the actual functionality of the device (and also its limitations). When a user logs in and has more rights than configured, the user will not be able to exercise these rights (because the device configuration does not physically allow these actions).
  • Default user profile: this profile is active when a user is not logged in yet. (Only visual; to perform actions you need to always be logged in).
